Welcome, I'm Selene, Editor-In-Chief of the Psychic Times Newsletter. Each month, in this column, I'll be giving you the highlight's of
the issue and sharing some personal thoughts. Please read on...
Dear Readers,
Happy May to you! Sun in Taurus has always been a time of material manifestation for me and making important decisions regarding finances and long term security. Now that our taxes are done and we are planning for the coming summer we are sowing the seeds of what we wish to plant in our gardens. We literally are doing that here as we continue to rake up leaves and clean up the yard. We have a lot of perennials and it is amazing how they come back each year, bringing forth flowers. We rototilled our garden area last week and intend to actually raise some food this summer rather than just growing flowers and herbs like we usually do each year. Like many of you we are also looking at how to cut day to day expenses and use up extra items we have before we buy anything else. We feel compelled to clean up as the spring cleaning and spring fever energy is still with us. At the same time the grounded energies of the Sun in this fixed Earth sign makes us want to solidify our plans and do what we can to prepare to move ahead. It is interesting how the energies of the signs make an impression each year as we carry the imprint of the seasons and the planets; we deal with what we are meant to learn as we move through each part of the year.
Collectively we do have a lot to deal with this month; the cosmic weather looks a bit rough for May. Each month I provide a look at what's happening for us all in my horoscope column, this month we delve into this further in my Eye-Opener column "What is Mercury Retrograde Anyway?" Since Mercury is retrograde for most of the month of May I was guided to go into more depth on what this means to each of us, how long the cycle really lasts and some suggestions on how to make it easier and survive this period rather than it being a phase we dread. Be sure to jot down the colored letters as you read so you can solve this month's word jumble contest, the theme is Famous People Born in May, send in your entry and you could be the lucky winner of $50 worth of free readings from Psychic Access. I hope this information on Mercury retrograde is helpful to you and I welcome your questions, comments and feedback. Let me know what you would like to see covered in future Eye-Opener columns too.
Last week we celebrated Earth Day just after the sun moved in to Taurus. We were reminded to be mindful of our natural resources and to do our part to preserve the planet by incorporating green principles into our daily lives. This is a blessing to see how this level of consciousness has reached so many. I remember the first Earth Days when I was in high school and it was hardly accepted by the mainstream at that time. Of course now the awareness of the changes in climate and what we must all do to help preserve the environment in the face of global warming is widely accepted. We can no longer deny this crisis and each of us must do our part to help preserve our resources and be conscientious.
When I was in high school I was very involved in raising awareness about the environmental crisis and founded the recycling center that is still operating there over 35 years later. What seemed to be such an outrageous notion at the time is widely accepted now. Now we have yard waste bins and recycling bins that are picked up each week by our local trash service along with our garbage which fits in a much smaller can now that these practices are common. It is wonderful to see this being so widely accepted and practiced in our daily lives but going green is hardly a new idea, hopefully this is not too little too late. The Sun in Taurus and in Gemini reminds us of the promise of rebirth as we see flowers blooming and fruit growing on trees during the spring months.
At the same time we were celebrating Earth Day we began to hear news of the outbreak of swine flu in Mexico, a week later it is already reaching pandemic proportions and creating a lot of changes in commerce and travel throughout the world as we try to stave off what could potentially be another world crisis. The economic situation is precarious too but still we persevere and keep moving forward. I have been staying close to home, washing my hands constantly and using a lot of herbs to help bolster my immune system. We don't want to feel like helpless victims and need to be proactive in taking charge of our health. It is interesting how people are actually being encouraged to stay home and rest if they don't feel well and to be conscious of not doing anything to jeopardize the health of others if they do feel ill. Also in light of this serious situation we are reminded slow down, to take care of ourselves and remember we are not invincible or machines, if we need rest or care from a doctor it is important that we do this both for ourselves and to keep from impacting the life and health of others.

We moved in to the shadow period of Mercury retrograde on the 23rd of April. This was just as I was struggling to complete the Horoscope column for May after a considerable amount of research. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed as I realized what a potentially tough month we were facing. I run a couple dozen charts each month between all the sun signs and lunations and look them over as part of my preparation for writing the horoscopes. Well, it sure looks like we have some particularly intense energy to contend with in May 2009. Check out my horoscope column for further information on what else is happening besides Mercury retrograde. I had been pondering several different subjects for this month's Eye-Opener column. As I tried to keep the highlights section of the Horoscope column concise and easy to comprehend but still be helpful, I began to consider writing about Mercury retrograde in this column so that I could go into more depth about what it really means. I do explain it briefly each time it occurs but just like this transit's effects, details are often misunderstood since Mercury retrograde really is about miscommunication. It is also a cycle that lasts longer than the actual time that the retrograde occurs.
Mercury will be retrograde for most of the month from the 7th-30th, so the energy of confusion will prevail throughout May. It is interesting that Mercury retrograde has become a bit of buzz word even amongst those people who couldn't care less about astrology. Since Mercury rules computers and the retrograde period has a noticeable effect upon them, more and more people are aware of this cyclical occurrence even if they don't really understand what it means. Just as people ask if it is a full moon when things seem a bit wild or out of control, it is not uncommon now for folks to wonder if Mercury is retrograde when there are difficulties with their computers, communication devices or unexpected events.
I had a situation occur this weekend as I was working on Ose's interview that gave me a clear message that this was indeed to be my subject for this month's Eye-Opener. I purchased a new laptop early this month and put a lot of time into getting it up and running. I knew we had a Mercury Rx period coming up soon so I wanted to insure everything I needed to do for the computer to function without mishap was taken care of well ahead of time. I installed all my programs and transferred my files from my old computer that I had saved to an external hard drive. It is a good idea to install any new computer hardware or software before the retrograde period begins, also to back up your hard drive too. I had installed a new trial version of MS Office so I would have Word on my computer. It seemed to work pretty well and I was able to still access my files that were saved in the old Word format. I sent Ose the questions and we spent time going over them on the phone. I added some additional info from our phone interview and spent a few hours going over the interview to edit and fine tune it. It was perfect by the time I was finished with it, I was very pleased with how it turned out. I closed the file to attach it to my email to Doug to send it in just as I had so many times before on the old version of Word. Somehow due to not being familiar with the way the upgraded version works, my work did not get saved. I was totally devastated that hours of my time just got wasted. Thank goodness I still had the written replies Ose sent me and since I had read the interview in its entirety at least 3 times to carefully edit it after it was finished, I was able to reconstruct it. I then realized that we were already in the shadow period of Mercury retrograde starting on April 23rd and I already had been bitten by it. Sigh... Ok so this is a classic illustration of the effects of Mercury Rx even before the actual retrograde period begins.
The shadow period is when Mercury first crosses the degree of direct station about 2-3 weeks before it actually goes retrograde. The shadow period extends to 2-3 weeks after the direct station at the end of the retrograde period. So each time Mercury goes retrograde, which occurs 3 times a year for 3 weeks at a time, we are affected by this planetary movement for 7-9 weeks each time. In 2009 we will actually experience 4 Mercury retrograde periods so it will be even more pronounced. The effects of each period or cycle differs, according to the sign Mercury transits each time it appears to slow down and move backwards. Since Mercury is the planet closest to the Sun and is the fastest moving planet, it changes signs every 3 weeks. When Mercury retrogrades it will transit two different zodiac signs during each period. For example: this month Mercury stations retrograde in Gemini on the 7th, it moves back in to Taurus on the 13th which changes the energy of the focus of the retrograde period. Mercury will station direct in Taurus on May 30th and moves out of the shadow period to end this cycle on June 14th. So even though the actual retrograde is from May 7th-30th, we are experiencing the effect of this cycle from April 23rd-June 14th.
Often the unexpected events will occur just before or right after Mercury has actually gone direct while we are still in the shadow period. As Mercury is crawling forward again before picking up speed, we often feel we are out of the woods and boom; that is when things hit the fan and chaos occurs. I have also observed that accidents and mishaps often happen just as the planet takes its station and gets ready to retrograde. The day before can be ominous at times, I have learned to lie low and try not to plan to do too much at all. So it is important to pay attention to the cycle and be aware of when we need to practice caution to be on the safe side and to avoid issues or problems.
Mercury is the planet that rules thinking and mental issues such as communication and contracts. It affects written words, spoken words, business, sales, travel, purchases etc. So even though electricity and electric appliances are ruled by Uranus, Mercury retrograde will cause issues with electronic communication devices like phones, computers, etc. Cars and mechanical devices are ruled by Mars but again because of the apparent miscommunication or issues caused by lack of attention, if you forget to take care of maintenance and such you may experience trouble with your car. It is best to take care of as much business and attend to as many details as possible ahead of time. This is not the time to start a new project or sign an important contract if you can help it. This does not mean that everything you try to do will fall apart but it does mean that you may have to redo or rethink anything you do begin or initiate during this cycle. We don't have to stop doing things in our daily lives but as the bible states to everything there is a season, this is the time to complete projects and clear up loose ends, reorganize and clean out the closets rather than start something new.
Retrograde periods, although often problematic for us are a phenomena we experience frequently. Each planet retrogrades, except for the Sun and Moon. Mercury is most famous for its retrograde periods probably because Mercury represents our communication abilities. Although it has a very powerful astrological influence, Mercury is quite a small planet that travels at a relatively fast speed through the zodiac. It is the closest planet to the Sun but is not always in the same sign as the Sun. This time, Mercury turns retrograde in Gemini (variety; sociability), while the Sun is in Taurus (security, material pleasures), but retrogrades into Taurus while the Sun is in Taurus. The Sun moves into Gemini while Mercury is still in Taurus, but Mercury soon thereafter heads back to join the Sun in Gemini! We will move back and forth between mental and communication issues and security and material issues.
Mercury retrograde is actually a good time to meditate, read, contemplate, edit the book/poem/song/essay you've been writing, clean house, talk to your pet, listen to music, paint or catch up on your rest. It literally is a good time to recharge your batteries and clear away the debris in your life. Interestingly many unresolved issues from the past may present themselves now. You may hear from an ex mate or lover, old friends could make contact with you; these retrograde phases seem to present us with events over which we have little conscious control. We learn to slow down and go with the flow, just be careful that you 'dot all the i's' and 'cross all the t's' or you will have to go back later to clear things up.
A retrograde period is best seen as a cycle, during the cycle, a planet's energy is most powerful during the time when the planet takes its station, before it goes retrograde or moves direct it slows down and appears to be motionless at these times. The stationary periods occur near the beginning of the cycle and midway through the cycle when Mercury slows to a stop before moving forward again. The direct station is the most powerful phase and completes the lessons of the cycle. Of course as I stated earlier, we are not out of the woods until the planet completes the shadow period a couple of weeks after it goes direct.
Mercury retrograde creates a time of personal misunderstandings, delays, glitches and breakdowns. It is not a bad time to travel but make sure you have all your details worked out and bring a book to read in case of delays. Most of the time problems occur due to something crucial that goes astray or awry due to circumstances beyond your control. It is best not to make important decisions while Mercury is retrograde, since it is likely that such decisions will be clouded by misinformation, poor communication and careless thinking. Mercury is all about mental clarity and the power of the mind, so when Mercury is retrograde these intellectual characteristics may be less acute than usual. Read the fine print and put off any important decisions or purchases until later if possible. The key to surviving Mercury Rx is to focus so that unexpected changes or blocked energies don't distract you too much. It is annoying and frustrating but you do get through it, be patient with yourself and others and try to chill out rather than give in to the aggravation.
Mercury retrograde affects people differently, depending on where it hits their personal charts. For example my sister and her husband frequently make important decisions during Mercury Rx. When she would ask my opinion on this and I pointed out that Mercury was retrograde so I would personally wait, she asked me if it was always retrograde. She said it seemed to be. I replied that it only seemed to be when they were buying a car or making an important decision of some sort. I checked her chart as well as her husband's and discovered that they both were born during Mercury retrograde. Since they have been dealing with the effects of this throughout their lives it does not seem to cause them the same problems or issues that it does for others. It is natural for them so the mishaps or regrets don't seem to occur for them. I learned to stop pointing it out to her since it would just upset or confuse her. If you are accustomed to dealing with certain energies they don't create backlash for you in the same ways. Some people actually prosper under retro Mercury, especially if Mercury is retrograde but otherwise well-aspected in their natal charts. My sister has Mercury retrograde conjunct her Sun in Aries so for her this is a period when she can take positive steps since her Moon is also in Aries. It is actually an alignment phase for her. Mercury retrograde is a time for introspection and preparation for what comes next. If you started something before the retrograde it is fine to finish it up, just get all the negotiations and details settled ahead of time.
The best way to handle this period that occurs every 88 days for 21 days at a time is to be prepared and alert. Pay attention, take care of things ahead of time, expect the unexpected and don't be upset when things go awry. We learn from each phase of life and rather than holding our breath it is a good time to catch up instead. Keep it in perspective, see which area or house in your natal chart is affected by this transit and don't dread or be afraid of Mercury retrograde. It is like driving in the rain, you can still see to move ahead, you just have to slow down a bit and be cautious but you will eventually reach your destination safely. It is a time to try to relax and see the big picture, align with what you wish to create but wait until things settle down before you take action or commit to long term commitments.
Don't be surprised if you often feel confused during this period. As the word "retrograde" means to re-do, the theme of having to repeat or clear things up will come up for you. If you can accept this with grace and prepare ahead of time things will be fine and you will survive Mercury retrograde without too much trouble. I will share an excellent list of guidelines I ran across in my research to sum things up:
If at all possible, avoid signing legal documents.
If at all possible, finish projects which involve communication before the retrograde.
If at all possible, avoid closing big deals during the retrograde.
If at all possible, avoid launching new projects during the retrograde.
If at all possible, avoid scheduling meetings to make a big decision.
Allow extra time when travelling.
Backup your hard drive before the retrograde.
I hope this information is helpful to you and while there is much more you could study to learn more about this common celestial occurrence I do hope this information will dispel some confusion over what Mercury retrograde actually does mean and how it can affect you. As always I welcome your questions and feedback and encourage you to contact me with suggestions for future Eye-Opener columns.
I hope you will treat yourself to some quiet time and a nice sea salt bath soon. Enjoy the energies of spring and spend some time outdoors in the fresh air. Work in your garden and clear out your living space. Be sure to use the colored letters to find the answers to this month's word jumble, solve the puzzle and you could be the winner of $50 worth of Free readings on Psychic Access.

We are delighted to welcome Ose to Psychic Access. This talented reader has many clients who have consulted her regularly for years and is pleased to reconnect with those she has helped here in the past. She is also excited about meeting her new clients that she is destined to help in the future. Once you meet Ose you will understand why she has such a large and loyal following. Let's take this opportunity to get to know her better.
Selene: Hello Ose! We are glad to have you back here with us on Psychic Access. Thank you for taking the time for this interview, I know you have many clients here who will be thrilled to see you again. Are there any particular days or times they can expect to find you here?
Ose: Thank you, it is nice to be back. I appreciate very much being selected as May's Psychic of the month. I look forward to reconnecting with clients I've helped in the past and with new people too. As for when I will be available, I am at a 'wait and see' place now, juggling with my other schedules, but I project that I will be working mainly weekdays during the daytime with a few evenings thrown in here and there. I'll have my schedule posted but please look for me at other times too. I'll be logging in regularly.
Selene: You have been working online for over seven years now and have clients from all over the world. You have helped so many with all sorts of concerns, but what led you to specialize in love and relationship readings?
Ose: In my lifetime I have experienced great pain in my own love life, in helping others with similar issues I have been able to heal my own broken heart. Plus it is very, very satisfying to see my clients experiencing happiness in their relationships.
Selene: Your ability to tune in to their situation so quickly amazes your clients and keeps them coming back to you for guidance. How do you connect with people so deeply over the phone or in chat? I know many wonder just how a reading can be so effective even though it is not face to face.
Ose: My spirit guides help me to be able to connect to clients as if they were right here in the same room with me! Of course, not every psychic has a 'connection' with everyone, but most people I read for have found that I do form a close bond with them spiritually. Each time I log in to work, I ask for those I am meant to help that day to find their way to me.
Selene: Your connection with spirits began early in life, how did you learn about your abilities?
Ose: By accident really, as I mentioned things I was experiencing to family members and my young friends, I realized that they did not have similar phenomena happening to them. Also, I would announce future events to others thinking that they already 'knew' of them, however, no one did know. I would go into 'daydream trances' and get messages, but my mind perceived them at that time, that a person I knew was telling me things.
Selene: What lead you to pursue your current spiritual path? Were you raised with a particular religion as a child?
Ose: Well I never intended to become a psychic or a Santera; it all happened because I always say destiny/spirit 'railroaded' me into it! For most of my life I had set out to achieve the dream of being a professional singer, but I let that go when I found I was only 'making it' to a certain point and never going beyond that, then I decided that I would just go ahead, marry my boyfriend and become a housewife and a mother (but that dream was violently shut down too). So being torn down emotionally and spiritually to point zero I was left with ONE thing and that was my spiritual path with my gifts from spirit and doing readings (though that was NOT what I wanted at all). I only got into the Lucumi spirituality and initiated ultimately as a Santera, because in trying to get the love of my life back I travelled to see a Santera and (luckily she was an honest person) she told me through a Diloggun (cowrie shell) reading that the man was NOT my destiny and nothing could change that, but that this spirituality WAS my path and that I was destined to be a priestess. Of course I was very upset and did not want to accept this, so I continued fighting against this path, but ultimately decided to go with the flow and it's been the right choice.
I was raised in the Lutheran Church as a child (never felt comfortable there--I always asked where is Mary and the saints) and I was persecuted also in the church school by teachers and other students because I was 'different.' My first book review in 1st grade was on the Salem Witch Trials, so that gives you an idea where that was going! Then when I was finally pulled out of the Lutheran School, I did not have anything to do with any church until I was out of college, then I entered into the Catholic Church.
Selene: Do you feel that your talents come from past lives you have experienced too?
Ose: Yes, I do. I know of several past lives such as in Atlantis, I was told I was an akashic record keeper. I believe I was in a royal family in Egypt where I learned of the ancient mysteries there. I know I have been a witch and a natural healer as well as a physician. The theme of religious past lives is a strong pattern for me too. I have been both a nun and a priest. I also know I have been a homemaker with a large family in past lives; this helps me to understand that now even though I have not had children in this lifetime. I have had memories of many past lives and I know that they all have contributed to who I am and what I do now in this lifetime.
Selene: You have a Bachelors degree in Psychology, how has your academic education helped you with the work that you do? Did you go back to college after working for a while or complete your degree right out of high school?
Ose: I focused on counseling in college and this directly helps me in sessions with clients because not only am I working from a psychic/predictions standpoint, I am also seeing things as a counselor. For the past years I have been gathering credits towards a Masters in Counseling, and ultimately I would love to earn a PhD. in psychology. I completed my degree right after high school, but I had to maintain a job throughout college, sometimes working full-time--you see, no one in my family contributed financially to my college education, so it was all out of my own pocket and I am still paying loans back now.
Selene: What other sort of work have you done in your life? You are so adept at giving readings on business and financial concerns. How has your personal experience helped you to develop this talent?
Ose: Call me a jack of all trades because I have done everything from being a library shelver to a cook, a waitress, a bartender, a social worker, and a secretary. I feel the business and finance abilities in readings comes from struggling financially myself and having to budget, and also I have spirits that work with me who were bankers, brokers, and lawyers in their lifetimes.
Selene: I am fascinated by the Diloggun readings you offer. Can you share some information on that technique with us?
Ose: It is a reading using cowrie shells that are consecrated at the initiation into the Priesthood in Lucumi, that means only a Santera/Santero who has received these mysteries and ceremony has the ability to cast the Diloggun. It is a lengthy process too, so I do the reading on my own time and then have the client see me in chat/phone for the results of the reading. The consecrated shells are a 'mouthpiece' to God and the Angels/Orishas, so when a person receives this type of reading it is higher, obviously, than other forms of divination.
Selene: What other sorts of readings or services do you offer?
Ose: I do tarot, crystal pendulum, clairvoyant readings, also I can do health (body/spirit) consultations and medium services. Also I teach spiritual development to mentor those who are looking for that type of guidance.
Selene: You are always learning and expanding in your spiritual studies, please tell us about your recent accomplishments. What are you studying now?
Ose: For now I am focusing on continuing to grow as a young Santera (in April I celebrated my 4 year anniversary), it is a life-long pursuit that I have devoted myself to. There is still so much to learn and I will always seek to expand my knowledge. Recently I have begun studying the ancient ways/religion of the Egyptians.
Selene: I know you have a very special bond with the ocean and lived in Florida for several years. What lead you to want to live there? Do you intend to move back?
Ose: I am a priestess of Yemaya and She is the deity that rules over the oceans, so that explains my connection to the ocean! I moved there to be closer to my spiritual teachers but the time came for me to return to where I came from. One day I hope to move back there; currently I am caring for an infirm parent so for the time being it's not possible.
Selene: It was wonderful to see you again last fall on Psychic Cruise 2008. I know you like to travel as often as you can, please tell us about your most recent trip. Where did you go early in the New Year?
Ose: I went to Cairo, Egypt and visited the pyramids of Giza, the step pyramids, and the ancient city of Memphis--it was the most awesome place I have ever visited so far in this lifetime. I can't wait to return!
Selene: Do you have any other special journeys planned?
Ose: I am going BACK to Egypt this fall because one trip is not enough to fully absorb everything. My Mom and I are going on a 12 day cruise from Istanbul to Athens and will see many sacred sites. It is her 70th birthday and I am taking her as my gift. I am very happy to be able to treat her to some luxury. We both love to travel and I really treasure the trips we take together.
Selene: What else would you like to share with us about your personal life? Please tell us about your pets, I met Bonita and Sally when I visited you in Miami, do you have another dog now too?
Ose: I have another dog named Bella, she is a 15 month old Shih-Tzu/Poodle, she is a joy and I can't imagine not having her in my life. Every witch needs a cat, hence my Persian cat Sally lol. And Bonita is my other dog, a Shih-Tzu/Lhasa Apso who is not too bright but I love her! Both of my dogs are Aquarians and my cat is a Virgo, all three are very true to their sun signs. I am very connected to them as they are to me.
Selene: I know you love to sing and understand you were a professional singer at one time, what sort of music do you like?
Ose: I was a professional jazz singer both as a solo artist and in combos. It was my dream and there were several times when it really looked like my career was going somewhere. The life of a jazz singer is not easy though and I experienced many disappointments that lead me to release this aspiration. I reviewed the life of Billie Holiday who I greatly admired and saw first-hand how difficult a life path this was to pursue. I still love to sing but it has become a hobby instead. I enjoy all sorts of music especially jazz, classical, classic rock (Led Zeppelin), world music (I love Brazilian samba and bossa-nova) and Cuban music (pre 1960).
Selene: With the difficulties everyone is experiencing now, is there some advice or guidance you would like to share to help people dealing with so many issues these days?
Ose: Keep it simple....that means clearing the excess out of your life and going back to basics, and appreciating what you DO have. Do not panic (or try not to) know that there is a Higher Power that will guide and protect, though we also share responsibility by making prudent decisions. For now the rule is: "If something is not working for you, it's time to 'clean up your life'"
Selene: This is the part that is unscripted, what else would you like us to know about you?
Ose: Well, I am just a normal person trying to get through this life the same as everyone else....I suppose the difference with me is that I have consecrated my life (sort of like a nun or a priest would) to my spiritual life path in order to give myself fully to helping others. It's a calling that is not for everyone (I certainly fought against it) but finally after an earlier lifetime of turmoil and deep pain, I have finally found peace within. When you think that this life is not 'all there is' it makes it much easier to not panic and to accept what the Universe/God has planned out for you now on the journey of the soul.
In the early 90s when I was the sole support for my family I realized I could do psychic readings full time and was able to make a living but I always saw this as a sideline. I stopped doing them when things stabilized for me financially. Later when my day job turned into a totally toxic situation I was led to pursue this work again as my life path. It was as if the Universe drafted me to be available to help others and all the pieces of the puzzle fell in to place. Even though I had not intended this particular direction, I have embraced this as my career, I know it is my true calling and I have never regretted my choice.
Selene: Ose, I know your clients past, present and future are very glad you chose to follow this path and appreciate getting to know more about you. Thank you sharing your story with us here on Psychic Times.
Whether you have connected with Ose in the past or are receiving a reading from her for the first time you will be feel like you have known her known her forever. This warm and compassionate professional is known for her accuracy and very detailed readings. Look for her on Psychic Access, when you are with Ose, you are treated like family!

As karma hit the US banks and hedge funds (if not their executives), the banks managed to hold off the economic laws of gravity for nearly a year - what had steadily gone up looked like it was not coming down. Then, one long crunch, many crash landings, and the crisis spread from Wall Street to Main Street and from there to your street. Now it's the Great Recession but we don't yet have the breadlines and soup kitchens of the Great Depression and maybe we won't get that bad this time.
Economics has replaced religion in our society as the dominant explanation of human behavior and the dominant source of ideological factions, schisms and heresies. There are still socialists and communists who do not 'believe in' capitalism. The Keynesians regard the Friedmanites as apostates or heretics, and both regard societies driven by such non material forces as religion as being self evidently irrational and therefore a threat to international security. To understand our material world, we have to understand the main dogmas of the main schools of economics. They all do share one or two dogmas. For instance, they all agree that all material goods and services are only finite in supply and so have to be sold at a price (rather than be given away free) in order to rationalize their consumption. They all say customers are better off when there are very many competitive suppliers as opposed to a few; because the fewer the number of suppliers, the greater their ability to gouge the customer with exorbitant prices, as the customer has nowhere else to go.
When we think of spiritual things we tend to suppose economics is irrelevant. Spiritual things by definition are not material and economics deals only with material things. Now the logic of that implies that everything in the afterlife is infinitely abundant and infinitely available. If that is so, then why do so many people seem to agree to experience difficult, painful, abusive, and short or pig ignorantly self indulgent lives here on Earth? Is more reasonable to suppose they are just spiritually retarded so make low soul choices or is it more reasonable to suppose the supply of nice, comfortable, happy or fulfilled life scripts is as limited at any one point in time as the supply of palaces here on Earth? Suppose the choice of life scripts is like going to the supermarket, so if you get in just after a delivery you have a lot of choices, but if you get in after a busy weekend you will find some items are sold out. In the afterlife, maybe you can wait for the next delivery, but maybe for the soul living is a bit like eating is for us and you cannot wait forever. At some point you have to choose from what is available. And how is it managed that only some scripts are available? Well physical limitations for one. You might want to grow wings and fly in your next life but for that you'll have to be a bird, bat or insect not a human. For another thing our soul gets bored of too much of a good thing, so Economics' "Law of Diminishing Marginal Utility" applies up there too. There are probably other aspects of spiritual economics which it would be really good to know. It must be much more reflexive than material economics, because with life scripts it is us ourselves in soul form that supplies a lot of the key things to our incarnating self not some distant corporation. Some would say the great religious and spiritual books we already have tell us how our higher self allocates resources and opportunities to our lower earthly selves. Up to a point, I'd say that's true. Beyond that though, it's worth meditating on what kind of things could be in short supply in the afterlife because it is those things for which the economics we use down here will have some use.

Dreaming True For Soul Mastery
This month we are going to discuss ways to record, analyze and dissect your dreams. Many of you are probably keeping a dream journal already. If not, then this advice will help you understand why it's important and how to go about it. If you are keeping a journal, then here's a much easier way to do this.
In the online dictionary, the word dissection is defined as the 'process of disassembling and observing something to determine its internal structure and as an aid to discerning the functions and relationships of its components.' Look up the word and you will also see it is synonymous with anatomize as well. Take a quick look at that definition too. Both of these words describe very well the reasons we need to track and record our dreams. We are supposed to dissect and analyze them. It allows us to gain mastery of our parts. All of them. We are meant to be masters of our own fates and our souls.
Admit it. Haven't you always wanted to keep one of those fancy ultra suede covered dream journals, written down in perfect lettering? The kind you find in the book stores? Now you can! It just takes a method. There is always a method or trick. Always. Besides, you'll come to think of yourself and how you work your own healing methods as most fine. How grand to know you have your dreams analyzed written down and dissected over the years. How grand you will feel knowing you've leaped mountains of issues and found rainbows to keep because you can work with your dreams. Very powerful stuff. And it's free!!!! Well, almost. There is the little issue of buying a fancy journal to transfer your work. But that is a small price to pay for using the dreaming to heal and master your life.
True to my nature, Salome believes there is always a 'trick' or an easier way to do most anything. My tendency is to take the route of least resistance in anything simply because if you find a quick and easy way to do anything, the odds are you'll keep at it. This easy method of tracking dreams increases odds you'll succeed in receiving the answers and guidance you need regarding dreams. The universe and the cosmos at large have an uncanny way of jumping through hoops to make friends with you through dreams too.
First of all, throw out any preconceived notions of needing a dream interpretation book. That is TOTAL NONSENSE! What they are is nothing more but someone else's interpretation of dream subjects. It's far more reliable to use a reference book of Signs and Symbols.
Many years ago I took a dreaming class from a shaman specifically to learn how to interpret my own dreams. I wouldn't have done this ordinarily but I received a dream that was so profound and so mysterious that it kept coming to my mind, yet I couldn't make heads or tails of the message. Hence, the cosmos put this shaman's class in front of me so I would be able to dissect the dream to my benefit. Mind you I didn't pick this person out of the blue, I'd done research into dreaming and knew there were people who were actually called dreaming shamans whose soul purpose was to have dreams for others. So I went looking specifically for a dreaming shaman. I looked for signs she was authentic when I came into her class of her true ability. And Wow! Did the signs ever come and quickly!
I wore an electric salmon color short set to that first class. The woman next to me was wearing a sage colored outfit. Next to her a woman was in purple. A young man was all in black, and a little older gentleman was in a beige shirt and slacks. We all took seats in her garden that chilly June morning at 7 am sharp. Folded neatly over the back of each white plastic lawn chair was an afghan in the corresponding colors to what each of us was wearing. We were a bit unnerved, but then the shaman spoke to us softly with a smile, "I was there in your dreams last night, I saw you and you saw me. I knew the colors you would be wearing to class today." Hmmm..... We put the afghans across our laps, exchanged surprised looks and set to work. I need not tell you we all paid very close attention to what that shaman had to say about learning to dream and recording dreams properly.
Here is the gist of that class: She had us buy a reference book called "An Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Traditional Symbols" by J.C. Cooper (no it's not the one who bailed out over the Washington wilderness in the 1970's with money never to be seen again) that was J.D. Cooper. Different guy.
This dreaming shaman said, "In this book or, another comprehensive signs and symbols book like it, you will find all the signs and symbols you need to get you jump started and whet your creative juices so you may properly interpret your dreams." There was information on every god and goddess you could think of. Information on minerals, numbers, alchemy, the universal psyche, colors, geometrics, universal archetypes, myths, etc... That dictionary COVERED IT ALL. She also said universal signs and symbols are important to use in dream interpretation because as a species, we help dream up or create the archetypes and symbols in tandem with the cosmos and universe. When we use a book like this it effortlessly connects us to the dreaming world of the cosmos, the planets, the stars, and others of our kind, and some not of our kind. The galaxies talk, we listen and talk back. That is the dreaming. Universal language IS signs, shapes, symbols, numbers, myth, archetype.
She had us use a small tape recorder with a blank cassette in it and we were instructed to place it beside our beds. Then, when we had a dream, it was an easy process to reach over, push the record button and speak into the cassette. The instructions were to speak the date, note if it was day or night, note time of year or season it seemed to be, if any, a sense of how it felt overall. Happy, sad, confused, direct instruction. She also said to be sure to stay lying flat in bed, and not to get up at all. Just grab the mini cassette recorder, push the record button and speak. It was not to concern us if we sounded garbled or sluggish. The important thing was to get it down, in sleepy talk, mumbling if we had to.
I noted at the time this was an interesting instruction and remembered my beloved mother who had instructed me how to study. Her advice about retaining information was almost the same. When you woke up, it was important not to sit up too fast. Instead lie in bed and grab your study material and read it lying down. She often used to say that a lot of information from the subconscious was lost when you started to activate the physical body too soon upon waking. The idea was to do it gradually, starting from a prone position.
In shaman's terms this would be called giving your dreaming body time to settle back into your physical body so you can feel whole. (by the way, you should never just jump up out of bed, but give yourself a few minutes to wake up, stretch and then rise). If you don't, you'll find yourself trying to catch up to yourself and the world all day long. Set your clock 10 minutes earlier. Your day will go much smoother.
Once the dream was on tape, then it was an easy process to transfer it to paper at a more convenient time. The reasoning was: 1. Get it down on tape first 2. Later transfer it to paper 3. Then a journal. You'll actually do this because it's easier. I'm always a bit suspicious of people who say they keep a dream journal and wake up and immediately write down their dreams. I mean c'mon. Are you kidding? Record them first, then copy to paper, then analyze.
We took our taped recorded dreams, listened to them and wrote them down between classes that summer. We had to give our dreams a title, always. Much like a story. Always a title. Always. Then date, time of year, if any and copy the dream. It had to be spaced 3 lines apart on the paper. Why? Because as time goes by, we were told, there would be more details pulled from our subconscious we could add to the dream.
That was an amazing summer. Every Saturday we took our reference book of signs and symbols to class, and analyzed our dreams. It was amazing how much we could tap into and/or reference in our dreams using this method. We even began dreaming one another and helping each other out. There wasn't one person in that class at its end that didn't have a true idea of what walking between the worlds truly means. Dreaming and awake, it's all the same. Our perception is what changes, not the two worlds. They don't exist as two worlds really. It all is one.
Today I have a bunch of journals with dreams and I can still find additional meaning within the lines although, with some, many years have passed since the dreams first appeared. Also a little hint is in order here: If you just cannot interpret the dream immediately after analyzing with these tools, then place it away, as it may not be time yet to interpret. When you get good at these techniques, you'll find this less and less of a problem and the interpretation and understanding can come instantly.
Dreams have a transcendent quality to them that run across the universe tapping into other's dreams, wishes and fears. They tap into the logos that are the human race, and they also tap into the universal and cosmic logos as well. It really is true that we all dream together in the electric soup of energy all around us. Dreams shift and change and are added upon as to meaning as the need arises, and this is something you will only be able to properly understand if you keep a dreaming log. Suffice it to say here, it's not important to record all your dreams because the ones you need to know will prompt you awake. The more you do this, the more you'll walk in both waking and dreaming worlds. Your life will be yours to see fit to run as you feel best. Dreaming knowledge brings immense wisdom into your life.
If you study Bon Shamanism, you'll find these marvelous people have the knowledge there is no difference between the waking and asleep world. It's only our point of reference that delineates the lines. They walk between the worlds, and they can see their future and they can change it if they so choose. There is a type of Dream Yoga they do and while they are rigorous exercises I don't recommend for the lay person to take on lightly, they do have the ability to help us tap into the dreaming during waking hours. The books are there with instruction, and so are CD's although in my opinion, the books are much better. There are also DVD's on Dream Yoga you can buy with the exercises that are a bit more tame than what the Bon Shamans use.
So exactly what is the dreaming? It is nothing more than the energy forming in the entire cosmos moment by moment, all at once. It is past, present and future all there for us to delve into. The most famous for knowledge of the dreaming are the Aborigines. They 'Walk about' and dream with the cosmos and universe and yes our Earth.
By recording our dreams, we enter into a unique agreement with the universe. We say, "We are in tune with what is, past present and future, so dream with us and we'll dream with you."
The dreaming is more influential than many of us realize. Adelaide, Australia is in the shape of a kangaroo that can be seen from the air. How did this happen? The dreaming guided the energy of the people living there who built it to make it in the outline of a kangaroo! Kangaroo energy is everywhere influencing even the shape of that city. Don't doubt for one minute that the dreaming influences you and where you live as well. It does. Cultures are ingrained with the land, and the land speaks, and so does the ether all around you. It is all energy. It is us, we are it. The trouble is we humans are a stubborn fixed lot who have hard boundaries up, and the only way the dreaming can get through is in flits and thoughts during the day and on night shift while we lie in bed sleeping.
You relax at night and go into dreams. You are still awake, your body is just resting and restoring itself... but your mind, well it's busy tapping into the energy of the cosmos. Very busy and paying attention.
Right now, we are in the 6th day of the Galactic Underworld as Barbara Hand Clow tells us. Things are shifting and changing, and the dreaming tells us so. If we learn to dream right and record the dreams that come to us, we will then take another step forward and begin to understand how much we can affect the universe and indeed the cosmos. We truly become co-creators with one another and the all. Change, positive change happens this way.
Done right, over time you'll begin to see your future unfold, and you can make changes before, not during, or after that fact of events, if you wish. You'll begin to understand the true reason for recording your dreams. Better still, you will 'know and use' the dreaming as it is meant to be known and used.
Tape into the dreaming. Get a mini tape recorder with a blank cassette. Put it by your bed, and record your dreams onto those tapes. Use a good reference book such as a signs and symbols dictionary. There are several actually, by very good authors indeed. Please toss out your dream dictionaries. The signs and symbols dictionary books are much better suited for analyzing dreams.
When you get a chance, transfer your recorded dream to paper. Always give them a title, make 3 line spaces so you can fill in notes, comments and such later as you go. In time you'll find you have garnered a rich repertoire of work, and one you can tap into by just opening your dream journals and reading. It will astound you how solutions to issues and problems will just present themselves to you.
Don't worry about working to remember your dreams! If you get your materials ready and have them handy, ready to use your body, spirit and soul knows what you're doing and it will almost trip over itself handing over the information to you in dreams. The dreaming wants to be part of your life in your waking world. It wants to partner with you and guide you. Allow it to do so and you'll find within a year of trying this method you'll no longer view dreams in quite the same way. You will know with certainty you have a tool for co-creating your life with the universe that is like no other.
And yes, you will be walking between the worlds, wide awake, refreshed and aware. Very powerful stuff and very healing. I believe it's called "MASTERY OF YOUR LIFE'S PURPOSE?"
One last thought.... those of you who do numerology, add up the word dreaming in any language and see what you get. Even the very words no matter what the tongue, vibrate to the energy of what dreaming truly is. Take it a step further and do some Gematria and it will astonish you!
Please use these dream journaling methods to benefit for yourself and each of us. Remember it's all one. No difference. Dreaming and waking, it's all the same. Our perception just changes to truly 'see'.
In June, I will be giving you very important and timely information about "The Bird Tribes" They are back and are among us. Yes, you need to know this.
See you next month at Shaman's Corner.

For Cindy Pace
My son Eon is 16 years old and paralyzed from his shoulders down. My son has a small hole in his spinal cord where the nerves got damaged so badly that my son can not move his legs or sit up straight by himself. Eon had a diving accident Oct 2006 in the sea. He dove into a dark hole in the water. I ask for you to pray that God can make him walk again. He has his whole life in front of him.
Please may I ask for a 2nd prayer for me. I am in a job where I am treated very unfairly. Everybody around me gets a fat increase.I didn't get anything because the man that I work under is evil and has no feelings for others. My son and I are staying with my Mum. My Mum is looking after Eon when I am at work. Eon's father passed away when Eon was 4. We have no medical aid and my salary is small. I applied for a good job the week before. Please pray that I will get a good job. Please I just want to get away from this evil person in this job I am in at the moment.
Love and may God bless you.

Whether we're aware of it or not, our energy is an important ingredient that goes into all the foods we make. So, be mindful of what you're thinking or feeling when you cook or bake. (Margarite Westo)
Note: It's been said by many wise teachers that blessing your food before you eat it helps to raise its vibrational energy and provides you with a more nutritious meal.
